The PTA – Business Solutions is responsible for driving partner technical enablement to help secure through-partner wins with new customers, existing customers and from a compete perspective. The PTA- Dynamics helps build a skills development strategy for improving partner skills around pre-sales technical, technical sales, project management, and service delivery quality. Achieving excellence in Pre-Sales and quality service delivery by our partners is critical to the improvement of Dynamics business win ratio, our customer success and satisfaction with Dynamics technology through their experience with partners.
Describe the focus of your work group and a general description of the work performed by the workgroup. The Partner Technology Advisor – Dynamics serves a key role with the Microsoft Business Solutions partners. The PTA – Dynamics builds excitement, evangelizes and technical enables partners around the specific product or product suite they represent.
Why does the role exist? The PTA – Dynamics indirectly ensures that Microsoft customers receive a consistent and high-quality experience in their technical engagements with MBS partners.
How does the role add value? The PTA-Dynamics adds value to Microsoft by building scale for MBS in the market through technically-enabled and growing relationships with MBS partners’ technical and sales teams that translate into thorough plans and monitored execution of partner skills across the areas of pre-sales, sales, and project implementation
How is role unique from other roles? The PTA- Dynamics is unique to other roles in it’s collaboration during the partner business planning process ensuring that partners’ skills are assessed against Microsoft standards and thorough skills development commitments are established to fill identified gaps through the Business Planning Process. The PTA –Dynamics will also recommend and monitor progress by maintaining regular engagements and check-points with partners through their performance in front of end customers. The PTA- Dynamics plays a crucial role also assessing and recommending the most appropriate skills development path to new Dynamics partners in their recruitment/on-boarding process. The PTA- Dynamics will also play a crutial role aggregating channel skills development requirements across products and business disciplines and engaging with the Partner Skills Development Manager of the subsidiary to ensure that course offerings meet the identified requirements.
What are key initiatives and challenges facing this role over the next six months to three years? In the next 6 months to 3 years the PTA – Dynamics will carry significant responsibility in ensuring that partners embrace Microsft’s vision for the Dynamics product suite and are able to advocate this in front of end-customers. This role will also face the challenge to maintain itself scale-focused maximizing the productivity of the role, by keeping participation in direct deals to the minimum.
Qualifications
Experience: 5 – 8 years of related experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) (Required)
Master’s Degree (Preferred)
Professional Training and Certification:
•Competitor Certifications
•Business skills (e.g., Executive Conversation training)
•Communication skills, with a particular focus on adjusting the topic and technical
•Product Certifications of the product they will represent
Knowledge and ability:
Subject Matter Expertise
•300 Level knowledge in the main Line of Business or functional applications used in targeted industries (e.g., claims processing in insurance industry and inventory management for distribution companies; HR and payroll systems, etc.)
•400 Level knowledge in Infrastructure management techniques and integration with business application solutions
•300 Level knowledge of the tools and resources used by customers and their Lines of Business (e.g., financial metrics and statements, industry and analyst reports, executive dashboards, etc.)
Industry Expertise
•100 to 200 Level knowledge of the specific industry drivers, challenges and opportunities faced by customers in the subsidiary
Microsoft Products
•400 Level knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics solutions (ERP and/or CRM)
•300 Level knowledge of SQL Replication, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, Integration Services, Clustering
•300 Level knowledge in other Microsoft products, such as SQL Server, Analysis Services, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence
Competitor/Partner Products
•200 to 300 Level knowledge of ERP and CRM solutions provided by Oracle and SAP and by Local/Regional competitors
•200 to 300 Level knowledge of the business value of partner solutions, their competitive value propositions and their implementation models, including Local/Regional partners
Abilities
•Strong sales aptitude with the ability to lead in-depth technology discussions, articulating the business value of a technology solution.
•Experience in an environment where partner contacts and knowledge are leveraged to listen proactively for requirements that will enable these partners to execute in a more meaningful way.
•Deep technical skills with the ability to translate the feature and function set into customer solutions and wins against the competition, and ensuring that this ability is transferred to and leveraged by partners.
•Ability to work proactively within assigned opportunities to drive opportunities to close, with an understanding of the implications of cost of sale.
•Ability to develop strong, strategic partners engaged in immediate and long-term opportunities and committed to Microsoft Dynamics solutions.
•Is a resourceful problem-solver, leveraging internal resources needed to do what’s right for the partner.
•Is a good coach and mentor for technical personnel within a partner organization.
