Description:
Contributes to print and online publications, covering a range of topics including social, business, current affairs and entertainment issues. Office hours are flexible, but writers must attend all story and art meetings and report to the Maadi office regularly. Staff writers are also expected to work nights and weekends as interviews require.
Qualifications:
- University degree in journalism or related field
- Previous writing experience in print and online journalism, with clips demonstrating a strong aptitude for reporting, writing, accuracy and attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of Egyptian current affairs
- Ability to recognize trends and translate them into a well-formed piece of journalism
- Strong English-language writing skills
- Fluency in Arabic preferred
- Strong oral communication skills
- Strong research skills
- Ability to cultivate contacts
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from editors
- Ability to travel within the country and abroad
- Excellent time management skills to balance short-term and long-term writing assignments
