There is a requirement in the Defence Section at the British Embassy
Cairo for an Administration Officer on a full-time basis. This person is accountable to the Defence
Attaché.
Main
Duties and Responsibilities:

Administer
official military visits to Egypt.
2
Co-ordinate
travel and accommodation requirements for Defence Section personnel.
2
Administer
all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
2
Correspond
with the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other
government and non-government organisations in Egypt as directed.
2
Support
the organisation and administration of all commemoration services, receptions
and social events in Egypt for which UK Defence Section has a responsibility.
2
Conduct the
role of Defence Section Duty Officer as directed.
2
Organise
meetings as directed.
2
Co-ordinate
the Defence Section diary.
2
Co-ordinate
the Defence Section drivers’ programme.
2
Support
the Staff Assistant in the administration of all Service personnel on duty in
Egypt.
2
Assist
with visits by veterans and their families to cemeteries in restricted military
sites.
2
Order
stationery and other sundry items ensuring that sufficient stock is held.
2
Administer
the hard copy files held in the Defence Registry.
2
Conduct additional
duties as directed.
The
successful candidate must:
2
Attain
Security Check clearance from UK Defence Business Services National Security Vetting.
2
Have good
communication and interpersonal skills.
2
Have the
ability to work alone and as part of a team.
2
Have good
working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
The
following would be advantageous:
2
Experience
of office management, preferably in the UK Ministry of Defence, or other
government department.
2
Prior
military experience.
The planned start date is 24th March 2013, subject to
security vetting.
The Monthly Gross Salary is LE10,000,
subject to tax as per the usual regulations.
