Description — Secondary level responsibility for the technical setup, operation, and support of the construction of scenery and props equipment and logistics for assigned Arts events. — Assist in the supervision and direct the tasks of training students in design, setup, and operation of props and scenery for all Arts theatre & music events. — Work with the Arts Technical Director, scene shop supervisor and set designer to build, acquire and modify scenery and props to support Arts event needs. — Maintain the prop inventory — Maintain a basic paint inventory — Work with designers to paint scenery for all Arts events — Make sure shop equipment is fully operational by coordinating repairs, maintenance, or replacement with appropriate service providers and vendors. — Assist in the running of shows and stage equipment for Arts production and other sponsored events. — Complete additional duties and tasks as assigned by the Technical Director and Department Chair.
Qualifications Minimum education requirement: Intermediate diploma in relevant field. Experience: • Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant field • Basic operation of lighting equipment in a multi theatre environment using a range of lighting instruments, dimmers, color changers and control boards • Knowledge of safe rigging practices as it pertains to overhead suspension scenery, lighting and sound equipment • Knowledge of technical drawing done by hand or computer aided design software

Other Skills • Advanced carpentry skills • Basic welding skills • Upholstery skills • Ability to mix color • Ability to create a range of faux paint finishes (brick, stone, marble, wood grain) used in theatre • Ability to build scenery and props needed to support Arts events, instructional and presentation activities. • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and problem solve system malfunctions. • Operate advanced wood working tools. • Ability to work as part of a team. • Able to perform in productions and related activities in the field. • Operational proficiency in all equipment and services described in Principal Accountabilities above • Ability to work well with service departments. Working Conditions: • Requires some physical effort.
