Search Engine Optimization Specialist
Job Description
Perform and deliver SEO and search engine marketing (SEM) Projects for the Publishing e-Business work stream. The SEO specialist will work closely with project coordinators, Web Production Officers, editors, information architects and management information (MI) specialists to maximize the traffic of Publishing-managed websites. Will report to the manager, Digital Publishing (DP) and work closely with the director, DP and co-heads of e-Business to implement the SEO strategy to facilitate customer commercialization in accordance with Publishing’s e-Business strategy.
Lead best practice meta tagging and content optimization with all Publishing e-Business work streams to improve the visibility of content.
Lead web governance by monitoring search engine ranking, including the internal verity search engine as well as internet search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, and develop search-related reports.
Develop a competent SEM strategy for managed websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages through the use of strategic content development, paid placement, contextual advertising etc.
Skills Required
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and advanced Microsoft Excel user
Strong knowledge of SEO and SEM methodology and techniques
A solid understanding of content management systems and e-commerce systems
Good command of SEO analysis software (Google webmaster tools, Site Ray and Web Trends)
Working knowledge of pattern analysis and basic understanding of information architecture
Knowledge of Interwoven Team Site preferred
Knowledge of CSS and HTML, and strong SEO skills
Knowledge of paid placement and pay-per-click is a plus
Analytical and proficient in research and analysis
Strong command of both written and spoken English
Post-secondary education - either at the degree level or a relevant professional diploma or certificate
Flexibility in working different shifts when required
Academic Qualification
Bachelor degree of Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer engineering or any relevant
Years of Experience
5-8 years of work experience in an SEO role, preferably with an editorial and/or marketing background.
