Job vacancy at Embassy: Political Officer
The British Embassy in Cairo is seeking an innovative and ambitious Political Officer. The main purpose of the job is to support the work of the political section in the Embassy in Cairo through reporting of domestic political issues. The candidate will work closely with the Political and Press sections in the Embassy in Cairo.
* Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•Researching, monitoring and reporting on current political issues and in #Egypt. Providing analysis of events.
•Writing analysis reports on key thematic issues relevant to Egyptian internal politics.
•Creating and maintaining a strong network of contacts by building relationships with official organisations, political parties and civil society to build in-depth knowledge of the Egyptian political scene.
•Provide support to additional ad hoc political requirements for the FCO London (eg. supporting visits to Egypt)
This is a busy and interesting role in the Embassy that requires a flexible worker who can contribute to the fast-paced environment. It provides an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop in their career as a political analyst.
The ideal candidate will have:
-Excellent English and Arabic written and verbal communication skills (essential)
-a degree in a relevant discipline, such as political sciences;
-in-depth knowledge of civil society and political parties in Egypt;
-minimum two years of experience of working in a related field;
-excellent written English and verbal communication skills;
-excellent research skills and briefing skills;
-organisational skills;
-ability to be a team player, flexible, and work to tight deadlines;
-The ability to build a good network of contacts.

* Compensation:
The position is Band C (LEII) and Monthly Gross Salary is LE 10,750 subject to Insurance and tax as per the usual regulations. We offer a competitive package including medical benefits, performance related bonus, recreational facilities, opportunities for job related training & development, etc.
