Description Assists in continuing to build and develop relevant collections in the field of the Middle East and Arab cultures in all formats under the leadership of the Director and Collections Manger of CEMEAC. Identifies relevant primary source collections and materials that are necessary to fill in gaps in both AUC libraries. Works with the staff in RBSCL in identifying and acquiring rare and unique information materials for the special collections. Assists in handling the Middle East and Arabic gifts and material donations. Assists in developing subject-specific content for the Middle East Library Web site; assists in updating the subject guides for the Middle East and Arab Cultures Assists with the Middle East collection maintenance, assessment and evaluation Assists on projects that further teaching and scholarship, such as digitization, web publishing, workshops, and other initiatives that enhance the academic mission. Assists in the selection process of relevant Arabic material during Book Fairs Assists in the composition of grant proposals that promote collection development, preservation activities, digitization, and other enhancements of the Middle East collections Assists in developing new projects, exhibitions, publications, services for the CMEAC and the RBSCL Assists the Director and Collection Manager in maintaining regular contact with and feedback from faculty and students
Qualifications Minimum education requirement: BA, specialized degree in Arabic or Middle East studies Experience: Two to three years of professional experience in an academic or research environment. Combination of professional library and educational experience
