Job Description

- Aggregate relevant news items from other news sources.
- Regularly contribute to the daily flow of social-media outlets by placing news items and videos on social-media websites.
- Work with the rest of OnIslam staff to create the daily news output of the website.
- Suggest ideas for OnIslam production
Job requirements

Spirituality Senior Editor (Job)
Job Description
- Identify priority needs and topics for new articles and videos in the area of spirituality that suit different types of Onislam audiences (New Muslims, born Muslims and also non-Muslims - Youth, Women, … etc.)
- Identify suitable resource people for the implementation of the yearly Onislam Spirituality Plan, including high quality writers & speakers.
- Edit and publish spirituality-related materials at the web site using Joomla CMS.
- Recommend other spirituality oriented activities to enhance the spiritual and tazkiyah contents of Onislam.net website.
- Establish contacts with other sister organizations and work to identify joint projects and activities of benefit to the web site.
- Attend conferences and meetings in Egypt and abroad on spiritual topics and issues of concern to Onislam audience and report on the proceedings of these activities.
- Prepare a comprehensive on-line course on Spirituality and Tazkiyah for Onislam audience.
- Conduct Live Sessions on Spirituality though the web site, and respond to spirituality-related questions received from our audience.
- Write periodic articles on spirituality and conduct comparative research in the field of spirituality for da’wah purposes and publish findings at the web site.
- Perform other tasks and manage other assignments received from Onislam Managing Editors, Editor-in-Chief and top management.
Job Requirements
- Graduate with degree in Mass Communication, Arts, Journalism, with preference to Post-Graduate degree holders in these areas.
- Excellent command of the English language, written and spoken, with preference to English native speakers.
- Excellent background in Islamic sciences, with preference given to candidates who completed formal Islamic studies.
- A minimum of seven years editorial work experience in the area of Islamic spirituality, preferably in a sister Islamic web site or academic institution.
- Excellent IT skills, with experience in the use of Joomla (CMS), Microsoft Office, and advanced Internet searching skills.
- Preference to be given to candidates with video editing skills, using Youtube editor and similar packages for video production.
- Good connections in the academic fields of Islamic spirituality and a wide international network of Islamic writers and resource people in the field

Humanitarian Development Senior Editor (Job)
Job Description
Editorial
- Prepare edited articles for the publication process.
- Write feature and conduct interviews that relate to the project’s goals and sections
- Process outsourced material online in line with the editorial policy
- Prepare the humanitarian project online campaigns, etc.
- Manage, monitor, and activate the project’s databases
- Prepare material for multimedia production
- Follow the daily news to provide ideas for producing material.
- Interact with the website's staff by providing ideas for the project’s development.
- Correspond with the website's contacts and writers.
- Network with relief, humanitarian, and development organizations for exchanging benefits.
- Follow up the project’s editorial plan
- Prepare material for other publications like eBook or eMagazine

Administrative

Job Requirements:
Employees in this position should:
- Have an appropriate degree or higher (in Humanities/ sustainable development, Social Sciences)
- Have a minimum of 3 years work/voluntary experience in related fields
- Have an excellent command of the English language written and spoken especially writing and research skills (highly preferable to be a native speaker)
- Have a good interactivity with organizations working in the field of relief, humanitarian activities, and development
- Demonstrate understanding of social/mental health issues in ones community enough to understand Western communities with non-Muslims and Muslims

Politics Assistant Editor (Volunteering)
Job Responsibilities
1. Following up on current affairs and issues related to Muslims worldwide
2. Actively participating in departmental meetings and brainstorming sessions
3. Performing Internet, library, and on-the-ground research (which may require leg work) on specific issues and providing information and material that can be used in content or for brainstorming
4. Networking with writers and correspondents, and assigning articles to be written
5. Editing articles received by writers and preparing them for publication
6. Writing feature articles, editorials, and analysis pieces
7. Preparing for and running online Live Dialogue sessions, which requires searching for and contacting possible guests, and scheduling and moderating sessions

Homepage Assistant Editor (Volunteering)
Job Description
1- Assisting the homepage editor to keep the Home Page of the website constantly updated and dynamic.
2- Conduct daily follow-up with all sections to secure the mobilization of work, as requested by the Chief Editor
Keeping an eye on important events to be oriented about the current affairs and to update the HP accordingly.
3- Assisting Home Page editor in presenting a daily quick news report about current affairs, to be presented to the Chief Editor
4- Assisting Home Page editor on some administrative tasks as requested by the Chief Editor and in line with what the job demands
5- Attending editorial and non-editorial meetings as requested
6- Other editorial and administrative related tasks as instructed by the editor-in-chief
7- Setting the proxy manager schedule each month and reminding the managers before the weekends.
8- Soliciting in gathering periodic reports and plans from the editors and presenting them to the Chief Editors as requested or his deputies
9- Contributing with the Marketing Unit in promoting the website on social media and other important outlets, but without creating any overlap with the concerned section
10- Assisting the Home Page editor in taking care of writers & corresponds’ file with regard to constantly updating the file and help in keeping them dynamic, without overlapping with the roles of sections
11- Participating with the Home Page editor in attending the Editorial weekly meetings , taking notes and sending the minutes immediately after the meeting or on the following maximum on an exceptional basis

Position Requirements
1- BA degree in Humanities, with great preference on mass communication

Public Relations Officer (Job)
Job Description
- Prepare or edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences.
- Respond to requests for information from the media or external organizations & individuals.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with sister organizations, websites, famous figures and public interest groups.
- Interacting with the website department for collection of information required for building prospected and current partners database and working on its activation for the interest of the website.
- Prepare and deliver speeches to further public relations objectives.
- Preparation of different surveys to be used by the website on periodic events to collect information for certain areas of interest.
- Communicating with sections managers and chief editor for required relevant reports.

Social Media Assistant (Volunteering)
Job Description
- Creation of Diversified Daily Content to make our channels friendlier with audience and eliminate the form of being promotional channels only targeting figures of visits and pageviews.
- Follow up of the promotion workflow agreed upon and initiating ideas on its optimization. Weekly and monthly reports for the workflow performance are required.
- Daily check-up of interaction from our audience on social media channels and replying to any feedback.
- Periodical update and change of the channels’ design to keep them with the sense of being active and changing.
- Keeping all content promoted on the social media channels consistent with the brand and image of OnIslam.
- Keeping eye on partnership and networking opportunities from the engagement of the social media channels’ audience.
- Keeping eye and follow up of daily updates and trends in the social media industry news to raise new ideas for optimization and new channels that can be added to the current ones.
- Searching for pages and profiles of writers, authors and people mentioned in our articles to include them when promoting articles so that we get higher possibility of more visits.
