Support Storage Specialist/ IT Operations



Role Title:

Enterprise Services and Architecture Implementation Deployment and
Support Storage Specialist/ IT Operations

Role Purpose:
Storage specialist is Technical Service resource focused on the design,
upgrade, configuration and maintenance of the storage systems across MENA
based on approved group solutions and standards and is responsible for
working closely with storage global domain owner’s and virtual teams to
identify and implement storage domain standards. The role is combining the
technical lead and technician for the storage domain.

The role owner is also responsible for Digital workplace support for Egypt
and developing a replacement in CS area. Main responsibility is Domino /
Mail service consumption management, capacity planning, maintenance,
upgrade, applications access management and liaising with group different
teams as well as the vendor.

Principal Account abilities

· Provide direction of the Storage and Backup solutions and
administration activities to meet the goal of improved service availability
in accordance with Service Level Agreements across MENA (UAE, Qatar,
Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Algeria, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt )

· Provide local direction of the Domino administration activities to
meet the goal of improved service availability in accordance with Service
Level Agreements;

· Identify the impact of new IT functions and projects to the regional
Storage/Backup environments and local Domino environment in transit,
ensuring relevant measures are implemented and supported in an efficient
and timely manner;

· Resolve problems and incidents of varying complexity to enable the
operation to continue to run and deliver service effectively by eradicating
recurrences with the minimum disruption to the business;

· Ensure the Storage, Backup and DWP Infrastructure readiness to
support new services and systems used by the business to meet the agreed
expectations.

· Ensuring on time delivery of planned projects in hand.

· Participate in Major Incident Reviews and Service Improvement
Programs as required

· Ensure regional representation in the Storage and Backup domain
meetings and conferences. Also ensure delivery of any global requirements
or deliverables or any work groups being led globally.

· Ensure regional business partners / RMs are being met on a monthly
basis to understand and listen to their concerns and implement an action
plan to resolve all escalated issues.

·Communicate/Test new storage/backup technologies with ITO within MENA
and group CoEs to improve service design and delivery.

. Communicate common issues with the local teams to improve service
delivery.
· Provide coaching and guidance for less experienced staff supporting
storage or in ESA team.
· Implement relevant compliance, monitoring, reporting, documentation,
and training.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs,
GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the
management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of
ethical behaviour.
· Stay abreast of technology trends and advise IT and the business
about potential benefits/impacts.
· Ensuring that all planned projects are delivered on time and within
the budget.
Own and maintain the Service Catalog of HBEG as storage is the main
component in all DR plans.

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE /Skills and Qualifications required:
University BA in IS, Communication Engineering, or equivalent.
Practical experience in implementing and managing IT operations related
projects.
Good technical design and implementation skills with a proven track
record of delivering large and complex projects.
An understanding of the business environment and imperatives
particularly the provision of excellent customer service.
Sound communication skills to build and maintain effective working
relationships with peer groups in Operations, Development, the user
community and product suppliers.
A high level of technical expertise along with the ability to react
rapidly and effectively to change. This knowledge will be both specific
to the Storage technologies and protocols (SAN/ NAS) systems and
networks as well as the infrastructure to which it interfaces.
Strong analytical skills to enable complex problems to be understood and
resolved.
In depth understanding of service management techniques, including
change management, incident management, Data Centre Operations and
configuration management.
A broad understanding of the underlying business supported by the
technical environment.
Excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle and IT service design and
service delivery with capability of managing projects and
design/delivering services.
Broad experience of dealing with commercial issues to enable effective
communications with suppliers.
Thorough understanding of the additional challenges when architecting
and building systems for multi-country deployment.
Effectively coordinate delivery of services involving elements delivered
by other internal/external teams.
