Description Heads of Department hold important positions of leadership and responsibility within the school. Teachers need to have the requisite leadership skills in order to be considered for the position. The Head of Department is expected to: — encourage high standards in all aspects of school life — contribute to the effective and efficient management of the School — promote a school culture which is happy, purposeful and productive — support and motivate students, teachers and other school employees — encourage consultation and discussion — communicate effectively with parents and guardians Examples of some of the job tasks: Planning and Preparation: Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive subject area action plan for each phase of the curriculum cycle including curriculum assessment, program support, co- and extra-curricular activities, and staff development. Curriculum Development: Maintain and/or revise instructional materials based on current research and department/school philosophy. Program Evaluation: Develop an action plan for program improvement. Other Responsibilities: Be involved with the recruitment of new staff by evaluating all C.V.s received and assisting with the interviews of candidates. Make new staff aware of their roles and responsibilities as subject teachers.
Qualifications a.Education Level & Skills -Bachelor Degree (Egyptian licensed teacher or Native qualified English teacher) or higher degree (Master, PHD) -Knowledge of curriculum and instruction; -Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; b.Certificates Required: -Graduate Diploma in English Language Education -Teaching license or certification -Pedagogy training workshops certificates
