Description Technical Support Engineer, University technology Infrastructure (UTI) Helps in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of the networking equipment, including switches and small Routers. Helps in the operations of the campus-wide network and resolving network and communications faults. Supports Wireless networks (outdoor, indoor, and Bus WLANs) including, installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting. Troubleshoots and solves network problems to all connected users, local and remote. Technical Support (General Microsoft problems (Email), and other needed software used in the University). Assists the senior staff in handling higher level network problems, and in any other assigned projects. Helps in the network operation of Video conferencing and streaming. Participates in the general schedules for any system and/or networking activities. Maintains network activity records and documentation. On-Call for any technical problem or any disaster that might happen any time 24/7.
Qualifications Minimum education requirement: B.Sc degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent Experience: • 3-5 years of relative networking. • Good knowledge of switching and routing with Cisco and Nortel equipment is preferable. • Knowledge of networking and communications equipment configurations and operations. • Knowledge of wireless network operation and configuration. • Knowledge of PC and networking hardware and software. • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, TCP/IP. • Familiarity with Internet utilities and basic IT security. Skills: • Excellent communication skills • Good Command of English Language. • Ability to work under pressure, on shifts, overtime, and on week-ends.
