Description     Oracle Database Administrator, University Information Systems (UIS) Department. —Installs, configures, and maintains Oracle and other DBMS products. —Participates in installation, integration, and testing of purchased systems and in-house applications. —Implements and verifies backup and recovery procedures for DBMS products. —Reviews new features and other changes related to database intensive systems. —Creates, maintains, and refreshes databases for development, tests and production environments. —Monitors system/database access, performance, and resource utilization. —Provides technical leadership to developers on the use of the Oracle database platform, development and integration tools, and deployment strategies, to include application tuning and guidance in effective use of database features. —Acts as liaison between application programmers and vendors to report and resolve database problems. —Work with application programmers to insure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations. —Provides general support during the absence of the Banner System Administrator as appropriate. —Assists with the analysis, design, programming, and implementation of applications that will interface with databases. —Analyzes requirements and recommends policies, procedures, and standards for database intensive systems. —Develops and modifies technical documentation to support operations and training.
Qualifications    Minimum education requirement: •University Degree in Computer Science, information systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience •Certified Oracle or SQL DBA (Preferred) Experience: •Minimum 3 years experience in Oracle database administration and programming. •Minimum one year experience in MS-SQL database administration and programming. •Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong service orientation. •Ability to work well with people from different academic and administrative disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience and knowledge. •A background in higher education is also desirable.
